News and Updates

1/24: Go to www.playride.com (Robert Ulrich's site) and view the entire press conference with Mr. John Odum. He talks about all the additions for next year. Construction is really picking up, and at this rate, the ride could very well be ready for Media day before the park actually opens, then open it that following weekend (March 23rd). This seems to be the most likely event because the park is well ahead of schedule.

1/23/02:

Well yesterday the day of reckoning came. Six Flags over Georgia announced Superman: Ultimate Flight, a next generation flying coaster. Superman will be the first flyer in the south and the fist one in America designed by Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard (B&M). The ride stats have been updated on the rollercoasters page. The ride will in fact include a worlds first "pretzel loop" that contorts and flips twice all in one big maneuver shaped like a pretzel when looked at from the side. Goto www.playride.com for more pictures and information on the ride that will help SFoG "fly" into fame.

1/17/02: More and more track is arriving, and the structure is taking shape. Remember the official announcement is coming this Monday. All the invitations sent out had the Superman "S" all over it. Sounds like the PR department is having a little bit of fun with teasers this year even though everybody knows what it is.

1/10/02: Taken from the SFoG Website:

"Keep checking for a SUPER announcement on January 22nd. Join us at the park Saturday, March 23rd, for the opening day of the 2002 season."

Only 12 days until the announcement of Superman. And now its officially known that the park opens March 23, although most already knew this. Plus I am hopefully going to be employed by SFoG so I will try to get alot of cool pictures of the park this year. Look for updates in the Photo Album starting opening day.

12/10: HOT NEWS FLASH! AIR's trains have arrived on site. For you who don't know, AIR is the other Flying coaster opening next year. Go to the photo gallery to see train pics.

12/10: Thanks to Wildthing for this update. Without him Superman Updates would be nonexistant. Taken from his site:

"Work is still going on with many workers, much concrete being poured, and the track area is taking on some kind of shape now. Looks to be very hilly terrain with valleys and all. Many more track pieces have arrived in the parking lot, and are awaiting their new home. More track supports are being poured all over the area. There looks like there will be a buffer zone between the rear of Cotton States Games and the New Ride. And finally, Dodge City has been untouched as has the old Viper Station! From what I saw, it looks like the workers are preparing to begin destruction of parts of Cotton States area, primarilly in the middle nearest Dodge City. The food stand in the middle has been gutted and ready for demolition."

Plus a new picture of the area has been uploaded. The site looks like the ride will utilize the terrain very well. This is good counting most other SF rides where they are all cookie cutter rides that could fit anywhere.

12/6: Site update: I've decided to see how a discussion board would work on this site. Go ahead and post. If you are interested in becoming a moderator, contact me at Chris7714@aol.com  or AIM-SFoGChris7714.

12/5: Nothing is really going on at the current moment in the coaster world. Superman is getting the finishing touches done on its footers and track is arriving. I decided to put a "theme" song with each ride. Hope you find this as fun as I had putting it together. Just click the links below each ride's description to hear these clips.

12/2: Welcome to the site. We are now officially open. Goto the pictures page to view the latest pictures of SFoG's 2002 B&M Flyer.
